Aniimo Twining Explained: Become the Creature
The official description
The Steam page: “On your journey of adventure you can Twine with Aniimo and essentially become any Aniimo that you collect. Use the Aniimo’s skills to solve puzzles, win battles and overcome challenges! Twine with Aniimo, to see the world from a brand new perspective.”
The September 3, 2026 dev letter goes further: “you don’t just have an Aniimo. You can become one. By establishing bonds and twining with Aniimo, you’ll not only fight at their side and unravel the world’s mysteries, you’ll also actually join their families.” The studio’s own summary line is “Our story begins the moment palm meets paw print.”
What Twining does in play
- Combat. Twined, you control the Aniimo’s skills directly. The official index lists two to four combat skills per Aniimo plus innate skills, each with an EP cost and a power value — all 459 are in the skill database. Roles (DPS, BREAK, Support, ENERGY, Heal) describe what the Twined form is for.
- Travel. Pathfinding abilities only matter because you can be the creature: Fly Lv.1-3, Swim Lv.1-3 and Climb Lv.1-3 in the official index. Somniwing, Fentuft-line and other fliers, the Susuta line for swimming, the Celestis line for climbing. Full list on the pathfinding page.
- Puzzles and exploration. The Steam description names gliding, diving and burrowing; beta guides show burrow lines and detection (Eko’s tail ring “amplifies ultrasound”, per its index entry, and its Detect Weakness skill scans targets).
- Perspective. The dev letter frames Twining as seeing Idyll “through their eyes, their wings, their senses”.
Beta controls (PC, July 2026)
Creator-written beta guides list C to Twine, 1-4 to swap team slots, Shift to dodge, and Q/E/R/T for skills, with sprint, fly, burrow and swim on the Twined form. The studio has not published a control sheet, and keybinds may change at launch, so treat this as beta-era.
Trait interaction
Each Aniimo’s trait stays active while Twined; several are built around it — Celestis’s Grand Sorcerer adds Might-scaled damage to basic attacks after a skill, Eklue’s Judgment Storm raises the team’s Wind damage after a debuff. The traits page groups all 94.
Questions players ask
Can you Twine with any Aniimo? The Steam page says “any Aniimo that you collect”.
Do you fight alongside your Aniimo or as it? Both: the dev letter says you “fight at their side” and can also “step into an Aniimo’s point of view”.
What is the best Aniimo to Twine with early? For travel, Lumin-stage Aniimo with Fly or Swim that you can catch rather than evolve — listed at the bottom of the pathfinding page. For fighting, the stat tier list by role is the transparent starting point.
