Is Aniimo Multiplayer? Co-op, PvP and Egg Heist

What the store page commits to

Steam’s category flags for Aniimo (read September 5, 2026): Single-player, Multi-player, PvP, Online PvP, Co-op, Online Co-op, Cross-Platform Multiplayer. The Steam description adds the PvEvP mode by name: “The PVEVP mode ‘Egg Heist’ allows you to join a 3-player team anytime to engage in real-time searches and battles in the Lost Isles.” Steam also lists Massively Multiplayer among the genres.

What the betas showed

  • Co-op size: four players — you and three friends — per a September 3, 2026 Steam forum answer from a multi-beta tester, who adds that “the main story line quest was mostly singleplayer during the betas”.
  • Shared world: other Pathfinders are visible, and Astra is a social city where players meet. The official Global Closed Beta welcome post (July 23, 2026) says: “visit Astra for a moment of rest. Stroll through lively streets, meet other Pathfinders, and make new friends.”
  • Egg Heist: enter as a three-player team, search for eggs and resources, deal with enemies and other players, and extract. Playable solo or with a friend. The third beta added Diamond Egg Heist, up to six teams of three competing over one objective (creator coverage, August 16, 2026).
  • Servers: the Global Closed Beta ran Aniimo-America, Aniimo-Europe and Aniimo-Apac. The pre-order Q&A says data is independent across servers with no cross-server progression.
  • Voice chat: creators report open-world voice chat in the beta; the studio has not documented it.

Is it an MMO?

Steam’s genre list includes Massively Multiplayer, and a June 26, 2026 MMORPG.com interview quotes the executive producer framing Aniimo as “a social platform” where players hang out with friends, “not just play games”. Beta players describe it as an open world with a shared hub rather than a persistent MMO zone. Both descriptions are on record; the game sits between them.

Offline play

No. The minimum PC specs require a broadband connection, all three tests were online, and AniimoVerse’s launch coverage states plainly that “offline play does not exist”. If you want to play without other people, the single-player flag means the story can be done alone while still online.

Cross-play and cross-progression

Cross-Platform Multiplayer is flagged on Steam. Progression is shared across platforms only within one server and only after linking a console account through the first-login pop-up. Full rules on the platforms page.

Questions players ask

How many players can play Aniimo together? Four in open-world co-op (beta reports); three per team in Egg Heist; up to six teams in Diamond Egg Heist.

Is Aniimo PvP? Optional. Egg Heist is the PvP mode; nothing in the story forces it. The debate over whether paid energy refills make PvP pay-to-win is summarised on the price page.

Does Aniimo have proximity chat? Reported by beta players, not documented officially.
